The AI interviewer has a friendly conversation with contributors to draw out their best memories, then compiles the answers into a written story. See which plans include interviews.
How it works for contributors
- Open the interview link for the book (or choose Interview from the contributor hub).
- The AI greets you and asks an opening question.
- Type your answers naturally; there are no wrong answers. The AI listens and asks follow-up questions based on what you share.
- When you’re done, click I’m finished, wrap it up (or just say “that’s all”).
- The AI compiles your conversation into a written story. You can review and edit it before submitting.
A typical interview lasts 5–10 exchanges, but you can end it early at any time.
Interviews via messaging channels
The interview also works over SMS, WhatsApp, and Telegram. The AI sends questions as messages, and you reply in the same thread. When the conversation finishes, the compiled story is submitted to the book automatically.
How book owners set it up
- Go to your book’s dashboard and click the Interviewer tile.
- Toggle Enable interviewer on.
- Configure the settings to match your book’s occasion:
Configuration options
- Tone: Warm & casual (default), Respectful & formal, or Playful & lighthearted
- Focus areas: Topic areas to guide the conversation (e.g. “childhood memories”, “funny stories”)
- Seed questions: Opening questions the AI can adapt (up to 10)
- Opening message: A custom greeting shown at the start. Leave blank for the AI to generate one based on your book.
- Max exchanges: How many back-and-forth turns before the interview wraps up (3–15, default 8)
- Compilation style:
- Narrative (default): The AI writes the story as a flowing narrative, preserving all facts and quotes
- Lightly edited: Light transitions and cleanup, but the contributor’s voice is preserved
- Verbatim: The contributor’s words exactly as spoken, no AI rewriting
- Custom instructions: Free-text guidelines for the AI (e.g. “Always ask about their relationship to the guest of honor”)
