Changed your mind about a detail, want to add another photo, or need to remove your submission entirely? Here's how.

Finding your edit link

When you submitted your memory, a confirmation or verification email was sent to the address you provided. That email contains a unique Edit link tied to your submission. Open it to return to your entry with full editing access. Check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it in your inbox. Right after submitting, the confirmation page also shows an Edit your submission button that works for the rest of your browser session, before the email arrives.

What you can change

Using the edit link, you can update your text, add or remove photos, and replace audio or video recordings. You can also update the name displayed with your submission, and set when the memory is from. Each visit to the edit link shows your current submission exactly as it was last saved.

Photos are placed on the book's timeline by the date they were taken whenever that information travels with the file. Some text and chat apps strip that detail in transit; when that happens, use the When was this from? field to set the date so the memory lands in the right place.

A memory cannot be dated in the future, so the When was this from? field will not accept tomorrow. “Today” is judged in your own timezone where we know it, and in the book's timezone otherwise, so a date that has already arrived for you is accepted even when it is still yesterday elsewhere.

Photos can be re-cropped, rotated, or flipped at any time. Click Crop & Edit next to a photo to adjust its framing. The preview on the form updates immediately when you click Apply crop, and saving the form regenerates the display-ready version of the image. Re-cropping always works from the original source file: no quality is lost with each adjustment, and resetting the crop restores the uncropped original.

Edits and moderation

If the book owner has moderation turned on, your original submission was reviewed before it appeared. Editing your text will send the updated version back through that review process; it may temporarily disappear from the book until the owner re-approves it. Minor changes like fixing a typo go through the same process, so it's worth getting things right in one pass when you can.

Removing your submission

If you'd like your contribution removed entirely, you can delete it through your edit link. Look for the Delete option at the bottom of the edit page. Deletion is permanent: the text, photos, and any recordings will be removed from the book.

Lost your edit link?

If you no longer have access to the confirmation email, reach out to the person who created the book and ask them to remove or update your entry on your behalf. Book owners have full control over every submission in their collection.
