You've opened a link to someone's memory book. Here's what to expect and how to share your contribution.
What you'll see
The page shows the book's title, a short description from the person who created it, and a submission form. Some books include a prompt or guiding question to help you get started. If you're not sure what the book is, see What is Our Memory Book?
Writing a text memory
The Your Story field is where you write your message. There's no minimum length: a single heartfelt paragraph is just as welcome as a longer reflection. Write as if you're speaking to the person the book is for. Plain language is perfect.
Adding a photo
Use the Add Photo button to upload an image from your phone or computer. Most common formats work (JPEG, PNG, HEIC). Pick a photo that means something; it doesn't need to be professional.
You can crop, rotate, and flip your photo before submitting. After selecting a photo, click Crop & Edit to adjust the framing. You can always re-crop later from the edit page.
If you're contributing by text message or a chat app like WhatsApp, a heads-up: some apps quietly remove the hidden date a photo carries when you send it. When that happens we'll simply ask you when the photo was taken, and you can answer in your own words: “yesterday,” “last week,” or “June 2015.”
Tip: keep a photo's original date. Send it as a file or document rather than as a photo. Chat apps usually strip the hidden date when you send a picture the normal way; sending it as a file keeps that date intact, so your memory lands on the day it actually happened, no question needed.
Sharing an Apple Live Photo? A Live Photo is really two pieces, a still image and a short clip of motion, so to keep it alive here, send both files. On a Mac, Photos → File → Export → Export Unmodified Original hands you the photo and the video together; on a chat app, attach each one as a document. If you only send the still, it still works beautifully; it simply won't move. More on sharing Live Photos.
Recording audio or video
Some books support voice recordings or video messages. If the option is available, you'll see a Record Audio or Record Video button on the form. Tap it, allow microphone or camera access when prompted, and speak naturally. You can preview your recording before submitting and re-record if you'd like.
Your name and email
You'll be asked for your name (displayed alongside your submission) and optionally your email. Providing an email lets the system send you a confirmation with a link to edit your submission later.
After you submit
Depending on the book's settings, your contribution may appear immediately or may wait for the book owner to review it first. If you provided an email address, you'll receive a confirmation message. Hold onto that email; it contains your edit link in case you want to make changes later.
The confirmation page shows your memory and an Edit your submission button that works for the rest of your browser session. It is safe to refresh that page, and a photo that is still processing appears on it once it is ready. If you open the form for a kind of memory the book does not collect, you will see a note saying so, along with the kinds it does.
