Exporting your book: Our Memory Book

You own your data. Our Memory Book gives you several ways to export: a print-ready PDF, a ZIP archive with all your media files, or a JSON download of your account data.

Book export (PDF)

Export a single book as a beautifully formatted PDF: readable on screen, printable at home, or print-ready for a local print shop.

Open your book and go to Exports & Tools.
Click New Export.
Choose a format (PDF for print, ZIP for a media archive, or JSON for data backup).
For PDF, work through the three sections:
- ① Choose a look. We suggest a theme based on your book's purpose; you can keep it or pick another. Eleven themes ship today: three general-purpose looks (Elegant Classic, Modern Clean, Storybook), five built for specific occasions (Memorial Order of Service, Wedding Album, Baby's First Year, Daily Journal, Retirement Tribute), and three art-directed compositions for when you want something more distinctive (Botanical Luxe, pressed-flower elegance with sage and gold; Heirloom Gallery, archival ivory mats and quiet captions; Editorial Noir, fashion-magazine drama in black, ivory, and copper). Each one has a different identity color, motif language, and submission layout.
- ② What goes inside. Toggle structural pages on or off: title, dedication, foreword, table of contents, contributor index, acknowledgments, closing page. Defaults are tuned to your book's purpose: a Memorial book starts with the dedication and contributor index on; a Daily Journal starts simpler. You can also organize entries by year, by month, by contributor, or leave them in chronological order.
- ③ How will you read this? Pick "On screen" (A4 PDF for digital reading), "Print at home" (Letter or 6×9 with a binding margin), or "Print at a shop" (6×9 trim with 3 mm bleed and crop marks; hand the PDF to any local print shop and they can bind it for you). Page size and orientation are also exposed under Advanced if you need to fine-tune.
Click Generate my book. The PDF is generated in the background; check back in a minute.

Customizing the words on the dedication, foreword, and closing pages

Each use case ships with a default dedication, foreword, and closing-page draft written in our voice. You can edit any of them before exporting: click Customize the words on these pages in the structure section, and either edit the draft or write your own. Leave the box blank to use the default.

Print-at-shop checklist

If you're taking the PDF to a local print shop, choose "Print at a shop" in section ③. We add 3 mm bleed and standard crop marks so the printer can trim cleanly to a 6×9 inch book. The PDF embeds the brand fonts so it renders identically anywhere.

Book export (ZIP)

Download a complete archive of your book, including all original media files (photos, audio, video) alongside a JSON manifest with submission metadata. See pricing for what each plan includes.

Open your book and go to Exports & Tools.
Click New Export.
Choose ZIP as the format.
Click Request Export. The archive is generated in the background; larger books may take several minutes.

The ZIP file contains numbered directories for each submission, with the original media files and a JSON file describing each submission. A root manifest lists everything in the archive. Maximum archive size: 5 GB.

Export expiry

Exported files are stored on our servers for 30 days. After that, they are automatically deleted to manage storage. Download and save your files locally if you want to keep them longer. You can see the expiry date for each export on your book's detail page, or request a fresh export at any time.

Account data export (JSON)

Download a copy of the data tied directly to your account and identifiers: your profile, books you own, your submissions (including any you made anonymously using the same email address), your replies, media metadata, memberships, and records linked to your email, phone number, or Telegram account.

Go to Settings from the navigation menu.
Scroll to the Your Data section.
Click Export My Data.
Your export will be prepared and downloaded as a JSON file.

The JSON format is machine-readable and can be imported into other tools if needed. Book-wide exports for printing, ZIP archives, and collaboration data remain separate so your personal export does not package other contributors' contact details.
