How it works
- A contributor records audio in the browser, uploads an audio file, or sends a voice note via SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, or email.
- The audio is processed and transcribed using AI (Whisper).
- The transcript is automatically filled in as the submission’s story text.
The original audio recording is always preserved alongside the text. Book owners and contributors can edit the transcript after submission if needed.
How is this different from audio submissions?
Audio submissions let contributors record and upload voice messages. Voice-to-story goes a step further: it takes that audio and automatically populates the written story from the transcript. This means voice memos show up in your book as both an audio player and readable text. No manual typing required.
Works across all channels
Voice-to-story works the same way regardless of how the audio arrives:
- Web: record directly in the browser
- SMS / MMS: send a voice note
- WhatsApp: send a voice message
- Telegram: send a voice message
- Email: attach an audio file
Limits
Recordings up to 10 minutes long are transcribed. On a book without voice-to-story, audio still plays back as usual; the transcript simply doesn’t fill in the story text.
